A RECORD-BREAKING FUNDRAISER
Alex Lewis – quadruple amputee and extreme adventurer – will row across the North Atlantic in 2026 with a crew of 10 rowers.
2,000 miles. 50-60 days at sea – a world record breaking challenge…
“I distinctly remember the abject despair when my family and I learnt the astronomical cost of my disability. The barriers were simple – Affordability and Accessibility. I decided to do something about it and threw myself into University research in prosthetic development.”
THE RESULT
Through co-design with Imperial College we now have an affordable, comfortable and accessible upper limb prosthetic – the Koalaa – ready for children and young adults. No waiting list, no monthly appointments. A Koalaa can be fitted within 25 minutes and lasts up to 4 times longer than standard prosthetics.
THE WHY
Thousands of children and young adults in the UK live with limb difference. With the opportunity to use a Koalaa, they could realise their dream to be an artist, an Olympian, but more importantly foster a sense of belonging in their community.
Action 4 Limb Difference represents the largest fundraising effort for children and young adults with limb difference ever seen in the UK. It offers every meningitis survivor, every sepsis survivor, every trauma survivor and those born with limb difference a vision of a better future – and with your help, we can make it happen.
